The Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra and Music School Festival Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Rossen Milanov, join forces with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus for Mahler’s profound ‘Resurrection’ Symphony in a special side-by-side performance. This monumental work, one of Mahler’s most emotionally charged compositions, is a masterful journey from darkness to transcendent light and hope. Of the culminating moments Mahler wrote: “A feeling of overwhelming love fills us with blissful knowledge and illuminates our existence.”

This interpretation breathes new life into the beloved work: the ethereal Pie Jesu arranged by our conductor for SATB and chamber orchestra, all of the the baritone solo will be sung by a mezzo-soprano, and subtle adjustments to the choral textures that reveal different depths of expression…Through this reimagining, we hope to illuminate Fauré's vision of eternal rest, comfort, and the promise of peace---a sacred reflection on life, loss, and the infinite grace beyond.”
